Varin Stops The Freeze At The Ridge

Fultonville, NY – Bobby Varin broke the early season drought Friday night by unthawing his fellow Dirt Modified racers at The Ridge. Varin claimed the 35 lap feature event, his first win of the season. He also broke the pending win streak of point leader Stewart Friesen.
Richie Price and rookie Justin Boehler led the field to the green with third place Danny Varin taking the early lead. Craig Hanson would move into second early and trail the younger Varin by about four car lengths. Hanson would erase the deficit and by lap six was all over Varin’s bumper.
Varin’s good run would come to an end just past half way when he spun. This gave the lead to Hanson who would have Bobby Varin, Friesen and Jackie Brown, Jr. on his tail. Varin would take the lead on the restart with Hanson moving to second a few laps later.
The caution flag would wave late in the event however it wasn’t enough as Varin was able to bring home his 15th career feature win at The Ridge. Varin is the tracks all time leading Dirt Modified feature winner. Brown would come home third with Hanson fourth and Jeremy Wilder fifth. Heat races were won by JaMike Sowle and Danny Varin.
Chad Edwards would win the 25 lap Sportsman division feature event. Edwards would avoid trouble and take the win over Rocky Warner, John Marsh, Jr., Chris Schaffer and Brian Pessolano. Heat races were won by Edwards and Brian Pessolano.
Mike Jackson won his second straight Rookie Sportsman feature event. One more win and Jackson will have to move into the regular Sportsman division. Bill Fox finished second with Dave Grace third, AJ Prime fourth and Chris Adams fifth.
Jason Samrov would be victorious in the Street Stock feature event. Randy Cosselman would finish second with Rob VanAernam, Jon Young and Mark Lestor following. Ken Hollenbeck beat his brother Kerrie in the Cruiser ranks. Chuck Wainwright, Jr. finished third.
The Ridge returns to action Friday night May 25th with the first event in the Harry’s Auto Street Stock Series. The Dirt Modifieds, Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman, Cruisers and Lightning Sprints (Mini Sprints) will also be on the card. Racing will start at 7pm.
